( the text comes monday night, after the screech of tires caught caroline's attention during her run through the park. she'd followed the sound, curious, until she'd caught sight of cars racing down an empty street. )

either someone stole your car or you left out the stunt driver part of your introduction

oh, did I? My apologies.

Although, I guess here and now it's only just a hobby. We have this club, my roommate and I. We're both into cars and we just like to race around, from time to time. We still haven't reached a consensus on which car is better.

[gasping]

the ride home i got was definitely stunt-free
i think i missed out

and by the way: you can tell your roommate you have a cheerleader on your side :)

would you like me to take you on a drift ride?
i try not to spring that on people - it makes a lot feel a bit sick, you know?

i would love to go on whatever a drift ride is
the faster, the better

( luckily for them both, she's got a fairly strong stomach. )

a night drive sounds perfect.

are you a savory or sweet kind of guy?

( very. and she means snackwise, obviously. she has a feeling he's a real sweet guy, in more ways than one. )

I tend to lean towards sweet, but you don't have to do that. We can pick something on the way, if you'd like.

it doesn't seem fair to make you do all the work

plus, i'm already at the store
post-run snack food cravings cannot be ignored

and what would your post run cravings be?

( technically, her cravings send her to the blood bank to pick up her supply of b-positive for the week, but... that's not exactly polite conversation to spring on somebody. so she'll give her alternative: )

usually something salty but i'm a big fan of the pull and peel licorices

i like to practice making knots with my tongue
and they're better tasting than cherry stems :)

seventh grade summer camp has its perks, i guess
if you want a demonstration, you'll have to get here before i finish the bag
